TL;DR. Inspecta Gadjet is Gadjet's Chrome extension for Takealot sellers. On any takealot.com product page it adds a card showing the product's estimated Takealot fees, your profit and margin once you enter your cost price, estimated sales and revenue, an opportunity score and similar products. That lets you check a product's economics on the page you are already looking at, instead of exporting data and building a spreadsheet. On Seller Portal, the extension adds a Pulse panel and a Since your last visit summary to your dashboard. You sign in with your Gadjet account. Estimated sales count against your plan's monthly allowance. The extension is a page-by-page check. It does not replace Market Explorer for scanning a whole category, and it does not reprice anything.
What is the Inspecta Gadjet Chrome extension?
Inspecta Gadjet is a browser extension for Google Chrome, published by Gadjet. It works in three places:
- takealot.com product pages, where it adds a research card below the buybox offer.
- Seller Portal (sellers.takealot.com), where it adds panels to your seller dashboard.
- app.gadjet.ai, so your Gadjet sign-in carries across to the extension.
It uses the same account, and the same market data, as the Gadjet web app. The app is where you run the store. The extension brings the numbers to the product page you are looking at.
What does the extension show on a Takealot product page?
| Field | What it tells you | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Takealot fees | The estimated Success Fee and fulfilment fee on this product at its current price | Fulfilment is charged per unit, so check it on multi-unit orders too |
| Cost price | Where you enter your landed cost, incl. VAT | Without a cost, profit and margin cannot be calculated |
| Profit and margin | What you would keep per unit after fees and cost | Check the margin survives an R1 price cut before you compete for the buybox |
| Estimated sales and revenue | Estimated monthly units and revenue for this listing | Treat it as a demand signal, not an order quantity |
| Opportunity score | A score out of 10 that combines demand, competition and room for a better listing | Use it to shortlist, then open the breakdown behind it |
| Similar products | Up to five products in the same category within 30% of this price, ranked by rating | See who else sells nearby and at what price |
Two warnings appear when they apply:
- Parent-variant pages. When a page lists several variants with a "From R…" price, that price is a placeholder. Open a specific variant for fees and profit you can rely on.
- Plan limits. Rows that need a higher plan or more allowance show an upgrade prompt instead of a figure.
What does the extension add to Seller Portal?
On your Seller Portal dashboard, Inspecta Gadjet adds two panels:
- Pulse — tiles for your 30-day sales, revenue at risk and lost stock.
- Since your last visit — what changed since you last opened the dashboard.
These appear on the Seller Portal dashboard only. The product-page card does not appear inside Seller Portal.
What actions can you take from the card?
The card has two buttons:
- Track product — adds the product to your tracked list in Gadjet.
- Create an offer — puts your own offer on the product you are viewing, for one of your stores. You enter the SKU, selling price, RRP, stock and lead time, review a preview, and the offer goes to Takealot only when you confirm.
Nothing else on the card changes your store. It does not change existing prices.
How do you use the extension for product research?
The extension works best as the margin check in a wider research pass, as set out in how to find winning products on Takealot:
- Find candidates by demand and competition. Market Explorer sorts the catalogue by rising demand.
- Open each candidate's product page. The card shows fees and estimated sales immediately.
- Enter your landed cost. If profit after fees does not clear your floor, stop there. You do not need to order stock to learn the answer.
- Check similar products. A crowded shelf of strong listings is a harder entry than a thin one.
For products you already sell, the same card on your own listing shows whether the margin can absorb a price cut in a buybox contest.
What does the extension not do?
- It does not scan the whole catalogue. Sorting every product in a category by demand is Market Explorer's job.
- It does not reprice. Seeing the buybox on one page is a snapshot. Continuous buybox monitoring runs in the Gadjet repricer.
- It does not work on amazon.co.za. Amazon South Africa connects to Gadjet through Seller Central in the web app. The extension works on takealot.com and Seller Portal only.
How do you install and sign in?
- Install Inspecta Gadjet from the Chrome Web Store.
- Open any takealot.com product page. The card appears below the buybox offer.
- Sign in with your Gadjet account when prompted. There is no separate extension password.
Some rows, including estimated sales, need you to be signed in. Estimated sales lookups count against your plan: 25 a month on Starter, 100 on Business and unlimited on Empire.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Chrome extension for Takealot sellers?
Yes. Inspecta Gadjet is a Chrome extension that adds a research card to takealot.com product pages, showing estimated fees, profit and margin at your cost price, estimated sales, an opportunity score and similar products. It also adds dashboard panels to Takealot Seller Portal.
Is the extension different from the Gadjet web app?
It uses the same account and data, on a different surface. The web app runs your store: payouts, recon claims, the repricer and Market Explorer. The extension shows the numbers for the one product page you have open.
Do I need a Gadjet account to use the extension?
Yes, for most of it. You sign in with your Gadjet account, and rows such as estimated sales need you signed in. Estimated sales lookups count against your plan's monthly allowance.
Does the extension work in Seller Portal?
Yes. On your Seller Portal dashboard it adds a Pulse panel and a Since your last visit summary. The product-page research card appears on takealot.com only.
Why does the extension warn me about a "From R" price?
Parent-variant pages show a "From R…" price that stands in for several variants. Fees and profit calculated on that placeholder would be wrong. Open the specific size or colour you want to check.
Does the extension change my prices or listings?
It does not change existing prices or listings. The one action that writes to Takealot is Create an offer, which adds your offer to the product you are viewing, and only after you review the details and confirm. Repricing runs through the Gadjet repricer, within the floor prices you set.
What to do this week
- Install Inspecta Gadjet and sign in. Use your existing Gadjet account.
- Open a competitor's product page you would like to sell against. Enter your landed cost and read the profit after fees.
- Open your own top listing. Check the margin still clears your floor after an R1 price cut.
- Check that product pages you track are specific variants. Replace any "From R…" parent pages in your research list.
- Use the card as the margin filter in your research. Confirm demand in Market Explorer before you order stock.
The product page is where you make the decision. The extension puts the fees and margin there too.

Most Takealot sellers only stock what they already know. One seller listed a product they had never heard of, because it was climbing a demand list. It did over R20,000 in its first seven days. Here is what they saw, how to read the same two numbers, and where the trap is.
- 18 September 2026How to find winning products on Takealot without guessing
Most Takealot sellers pick the next SKU from a supplier PDF or a gut feel. Winning-product research is a filter: rising demand, weak incumbents, a landed margin that survives Success Fee and fulfilment, and a title you can actually rank. A practical pass, not a crystal ball.
